A Controls Engineer at Nuro will develop and optimize control software for autonomous vehicles, ensuring safety, performance, and reliability while collaborating with engineering teams to advance self-driving technology.
Key Responsibilities
Develop robust, reliable, and optimized production-level control software adhering to safety standards (ISO 26262).
Adapt and evolve core control software to support new vehicle platforms and capabilities.
Conduct vehicle bring-up, controls tuning, testing, and debugging to meet performance, quality, and drivability targets.
Requirements
Develop robust, reliable and optimized production-level control software in adherence with safety standards ISO 26262.
Adapt and evolve the core controls software stack to support new vehicle platforms and capabilities.
Conduct hands-on vehicle bring-up, controls tuning, testing, and debugging to achieve vehicle performance, quality, and drivability targets.
Knowledge in vehicle dynamics, controls theories, control strategy development and testing.
Proven experience implementing classical and modern control methods such as PID, LQR, MPC, and/or Machine Learning for Controls through academic projects or professional work.
Strong Embedded C preferred or C programming skills.
MS in mechanical, mechatronics, electrical, aerospace, robotics, or closely related fields with focus on Controls.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to learn and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment.
Self-starter and good team player with strong drive and accountability.
