Job Description
The Director of Product Lifecycle Management oversees the end-to-end process of managing parts within operations, including establishing procedures, coordinating cross-functional reviews, managing inventory and supply chain risks, and ensuring system accuracy and process compliance across multiple departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee end-to-end management of part numbers within Operations, including reviewing, introducing, updating, and retiring parts throughout their lifecycle.
- Coordinate cross-functional reviews to ensure proper understanding and execution of part changes in operational systems and Bills of Material (BOM).
- Manage part numbers in ERP and related systems, review inventory levels and open orders, and provide stocking and depletion recommendations.
- Track and manage approved substitutions and alternate parts to mitigate supply chain risks.
- Develop and maintain processes for managing part changes, Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), and ensure process compliance.
- Act as a project coordinator across multiple functions such as Operations, Sourcing, Engineering, Quality, Sales, and Product Management to ensure supply chain efficiency.
Requirements
- Experience in creating and implementing processes for product lifecycle management, including managing part numbers, procedures for reviewing, introducing, updating, and retiring parts throughout their lifecycle.
- Ability to coordinate cross-functional reviews to ensure part changes are fully understood and properly executed in operational systems and Bills of Material (BOM).
- Experience managing part numbers in ERP and related systems, including reviewing inventory levels and open orders, providing stocking and depletion recommendations, and tracking approved substitution and alternate parts to reduce supply risk.
- Proven ability to build and maintain processes used to manage part changes, Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), and ensure these processes are consistently followed.
- Strong governance, execution, and system accuracy skills to ensure part changes are available when needed, do not create material shortages or excess inventory, or disrupt production.
- Experience acting as a project coordinator and working across multiple functions such as Operations, Strategic Sourcing, Engineering, Quality, Sales, Project Management, and Product Management to gain full lifecycle exposure to supply chain operations.
- Experience working in a dynamic environment with new suppliers and supply chain partners, balancing process and risk, handling strategic costs, and actively engaging supply chain partners.
- A seasoned product lifecycle leader who has created and implemented processes for managing product parts and changes.
- Self-motivated with the ability to create, manage, and lead efforts in building a new product lifecycle management function.
- Willingness to travel at least 10-20% of the time for company off-sites, conferences, trade shows, site visits, and other events as needed.
