Job Description
A Controls Embedded Systems Intern will develop and operate a hardware-in-the-loop testing pipeline for wireless devices used in solar tracker systems, gaining hands-on experience with embedded software, hardware testing, and DevOps practices in a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and operate a nightly hardware-in-the-loop test pipeline for wireless-connected devices used in solar tracker systems
- Collaborate with embedded software, firmware, and software engineers on lab-based hardware testing and CI orchestration
- Integrate GitHub Actions, Python scripting, and Linux operations with physical test rigs to ensure stable software delivery
- Conduct automated builds, HIL validation, results reporting, and issue triage for release workflows
Requirements
- Candidates must be a junior-level EE, CE, or CS student interested in embedded systems, power electronics, and DevOps practices.
- Candidates must be able to build and operate a nightly hardware-in-the-loop test pipeline for wireless-connected devices used in utility-scale solar tracker systems.
- Candidates must have experience working with embedded software, firmware, and software engineers across lab-based hardware testing and CI orchestration.
- Candidates must have exposure to the full release workflow, including automated builds, HIL validation, results reporting, and issue triage.
- Candidates must have hands-on experience with GitHub Actions, Python scripting, and basic Linux operations with physical test rigs to ensure stable, repeatable, and auditable software delivery.
- Candidates must be local to the Bay Area and able to attend in-office at least 2 days per week, with additional days on site as needed.
- Candidates must be willing to travel at least 10-20% of the time for company off-sites, conferences, trade shows, site visits, and other events.
