Job Description
The Senior Onboard Software Engineer will develop and maintain on-orbit software that monitors and controls space vehicle components, including computational environments, external interfaces, and high-level vehicle services such as file transfer, time synchronization, and navigation, supporting Loft's satellite missions.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and control on-orbit space program elements, including flight product environments and interfaces with external equipment and spacecraft bus.
- Develop and maintain onboard software for space missions.
- Implement and support high-level vehicle services such as file transfer, time synchronization, automation, scheduling, attitude control, and navigation.
- Ensure the reuse of core services across multiple satellite programs to support onboard architecture.
Requirements
- Experience in developing onboard software for space systems, including monitoring and control of major space program elements.
- Proficiency in working with Flight Products computational environments, including physical and virtual processors.
- Ability to interface with external equipment such as imagers, RF systems, ISL, and the spacecraft bus.
- Experience with high-level vehicle services and functions, including file transfer, time synchronization, automation, scheduling, attitude control, and navigation.
- Demonstrated ability to develop reusable onboard software services across multiple satellite programs.
- Educational background in a relevant field such as Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related disciplines (implied but not explicitly stated).
- Experience working in a team environment on space software projects, with a focus on onboard systems.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, as the resume must be attached in English.
