Job Description
The Software Engineer will develop and maintain systems that enable communication between energy suppliers and smart meters, solving complex operational issues through software development and operational problem-solving, primarily using Ruby and Java, within a team focused on creating a sustainable and intelligent energy infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate and resolve issues spanning software, smart meters, client systems, and DCC services
- Design and implement fixes for software issues and develop solutions for client requests
- Manage changes in a complex operating environment related to smart metering systems
- Collaborate with a high-impact team to enable communication between energy suppliers and smart meters
- Build domain knowledge in smart metering regulations and specifications
Requirements
- Experience in software engineering with the ability to tackle complex, ambiguous problems and see tough issues through to resolution.
- Willingness to dig into the detail and investigate emergent issues spanning software, smart meters, client systems, and DCC services.
- Ability to work in Ruby with some Java, and develop strong domain knowledge in smart metering regulations and specifications.
- Experience in designing and implementing fixes to issues as they arise, developing solutions to client requests, and managing changes in a complex operating environment.
- Strong critical reasoning and learning agility, with the ability to adapt and learn new technologies and domain knowledge quickly.
- Ability to rotate as a business-facing point of contact for client queries and communicate effectively with clients and internal teams.
- A minimum of 0 years of professional experience in software development (implied by the role, but explicitly not specified; however, the role involves operational problem-solving and development work).
- Willingness to participate in training and support provided by the team to thrive in the smart metering domain.
- Physical and mental stamina to handle complex problem-solving tasks and operational issues in a high-impact environment.
