Job Description
The Software Engineer in Markets Prepay will work on designing and developing solutions for the UK utilities market, handling large-scale data processing, domain modeling, and integrating AI-driven energy management systems to support sustainable energy initiatives and improve customer experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and solve complex technical challenges related to processing large volumes of meter readings and integrating data into machine learning pipelines.
- Develop and maintain domain models for the UK utilities market to improve energy management systems.
- Implement technology solutions to enhance prepay energy services and customer experience for vulnerable customers.
- Contribute to building a reliable, compliant, and self-serve energy budgeting platform for prepay customers.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to adapt Kraken's platform for other utilities like water and broadband.
Requirements
- Strong attention to detail is essential for solving complicated, outdated, and process-heavy domain modeling challenges in the UK utilities market.
- Experience in processing tens of millions of meter readings a day and feeding data into a machine learning pipeline that models and predicts consumption.
- Ability to adapt Kraken's platform to improve other utilities such as water and broadband.
- Experience with designing and implementing solutions for energy management systems, including Customer Information Systems (CIS), billing, meter data management, CRM, and AI-driven communications.
- Knowledge of the UK energy market, including dis-aggregated forms of generation, less predictability, more dynamism, and smarter technology, is desirable.
- Experience working on a team setting the global standard for prepay energy and empowering prepay customers with budgeting solutions.
- Ability to contribute to building reliable, compliant, and self-serve products for energy retailers, including vulnerable customers using prepayment meters.
- Proficiency in technology and software development relevant to energy management, data processing, and machine learning pipelines.
- Educational background or experience relevant to software engineering, data processing, or energy systems (specific degree requirements are not explicitly stated but implied through technical responsibilities).
