Job Description
The Senior Software Engineer will work on designing and developing complex systems to process large-scale energy data, improve utility processes, and support innovative energy management solutions, with a focus on sustainability and customer impact in the UK energy market.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and solve complex technical challenges related to processing large volumes of meter readings and integrating data into machine learning pipelines.
- Develop domain models for the complicated and process-heavy UK utilities market to ensure accurate and efficient system operations.
- Contribute to building and maintaining a reliable, compliant, and self-serve prepay energy platform for millions of customers.
- Collaborate with the team to set global standards for prepay energy solutions and improve utility services for vulnerable customers.
Requirements
- Proven experience in software engineering with a strong attention to detail, capable of solving complex design challenges related to domain modelling in the UK utilities market.
- Experience in processing tens of millions of meter readings per day and feeding data into machine learning pipelines that model and predict consumption.
- Ability to develop and implement technology solutions that handle large-scale data processing smoothly.
- Strong technical skills to adapt and improve systems for utilities such as water and broadband, beyond energy.
- Experience working with or understanding of energy management platforms, Customer Information Systems (CIS), billing, meter data management, CRM, and AI-driven communications is preferred but not explicitly mandatory.
- Educational background in computer science, software engineering, or a related field (implied but not explicitly stated).
- Ability to work on challenging technical problems related to energy data processing and system design.
