Job Description
A Senior Software Engineer Backend specializing in Python and Django, responsible for developing and maintaining scalable server-side applications within a sustainable energy technology company. The role involves working on energy optimization systems, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, and contributing to continuous deployment and high-quality code standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain backend systems using Python and Django
- Implement APIs using Django REST framework and GraphQL
- Participate in code reviews, pair programming, and testing to ensure high-quality code
- Deploy and monitor applications using AWS, CircleCI, Sentry, and CloudWatch
- Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering standards and practices
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Senior Software Engineer or similar role with a focus on backend development using Python and Django.
- Experience working with Django version 6.0.2 or later.
- Strong knowledge of Python programming language.
- Hands-on experience with Django-REST-framework and GraphQL Graphene.
- Experience working in a continuous deployment environment using AWS services.
- Familiarity with server-side development best practices, including health checks and deployment pipelines.
- Ability to write clean, thoroughly reviewed, and well-tested code following high engineering standards.
- Experience with pair programming, code reviews, and maintaining high-value test suites.
- Experience working in an Agile environment following a Kanban-like approach, using tools such as Google Docs, Asana, Github, CircleCI, Sentry, and CloudWatch.
- Ability to measure and monitor production performance and troubleshoot issues using tools like Sentry and CloudWatch.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with multi-disciplinary teams including server-side, client-side, mobile engineers, UX experts, copywriters, and designers.
- Demonstrated commitment to high-quality engineering standards, including thorough testing and code reviews.
- Willingness to participate in weekly tech talks, monthly blitz-days, and external tech meet-ups or conferences.
