Job Description
A Senior Software Engineer Backend specializing in Python and Django, responsible for developing and maintaining energy industry software solutions, working within a collaborative, high-standard engineering team to deliver scalable and reliable systems using modern tools and practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain backend services using Python, Django, Django-REST-framework, and GraphQL.
- Implement and optimize continuous deployment pipelines using AWS, CircleCI, and related tools.
- Write, review, and test high-quality, efficient code following engineering standards.
- Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams including engineers, UX experts, and designers.
- Monitor and measure system performance using tools like Sentry and Cloudwatch.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Senior Software Engineer Backend with a focus on Python and Django, demonstrating the ability to develop and maintain server-side applications.
- Strong proficiency in Python programming language, with extensive experience in building backend systems using Python.
- Hands-on experience working with Django framework, including Django-REST-framework and GraphQL Graphene, to develop APIs and backend services.
- Experience working within a continuous deployment pipeline utilizing AWS services, including Django, ELB health checks, and related AWS infrastructure.
- Ability to write high-quality, thoroughly reviewed, and tested code following high engineering standards, including pair programming and maintaining fast, high-value test suites.
- Experience working in an Agile environment following a Kanban-like approach, using tools such as Google Docs, Asana, Github, and CircleCI for work management and deployment.
- Familiarity with monitoring and performance measurement tools such as Sentry and Cloudwatch to ensure production system stability and performance.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with multi-disciplinary teams including server-side, client-side, and mobile engineers, UX experts, copywriters, and designers.
- Educational background or equivalent experience demonstrating a solid understanding of software engineering principles relevant to backend development.
- Ability to work in a team that follows high coding conventions, open-source coding standards, and participates in weekly tech talks and internal training activities.
- Willingness to participate in technical reviews, pair programming, and contribute to maintaining high engineering standards.
