Job Description
A Data Platform Engineer responsible for building and maintaining data pipelines, sources, and infrastructure to support self-service analytics, machine learning workflows, and processing large-scale energy data to promote sustainability and support the energy transition.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain the data platform, pipelines, and data sources
- Automate data processing workflows, including ETL jobs and machine learning tasks
- Support the development and scaling of data infrastructure to handle increasing data volume and scope
Requirements
- Experience as a platform engineer with a focus on building and maintaining data platforms, pipelines, and data sources.
- Ability to develop and support data processing workflows, including simple ETL jobs and machine learning training and prediction pipelines.
- Proficiency in designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and data sources for a global retail energy business.
- Experience working across customer domains, including natural language understanding of customer communications and processing large volumes of smart meter readings (billions daily).
- Strong understanding of data platform architecture, data processing workflows, and automation of data workflows.
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams to support data analytics and data-driven solutions in the energy sector.
- Knowledge of data processing technologies and tools relevant to energy data, such as data ingestion, transformation, and storage solutions.
- Experience in supporting the development of market-leading smart energy tariffs through data processing and analytics.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain reliable, efficient, and scalable data pipelines and sources.
- Experience in working with data in a distributed environment, handling large-scale data processing tasks.
- Strong problem-solving skills related to data platform development and maintenance.
- Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with stakeholders across different domains.
- A background in data engineering, software engineering, or related fields with relevant practical experience.
- Commitment to building technology that supports sustainability and the energy transition, contributing to Net Zero goals.
