Job Description
A Senior Production Biologist responsible for ensuring high-quality care and welfare of yellowtail kingfish in a land-based recirculating aquaculture system, focusing on system management, quality control, and biosecurity within a sustainable and innovative aquaculture environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure high-quality fish welfare and conduct quality control and assurance.
- Manage and maintain production and life support systems.
- Oversee feeding according to rearing strategy.
- Assist with fish transfers and grading procedures.
- Ensure and optimize biosecurity measures.
- Participate in shift work, including day, night, and weekend shifts.
Requirements
- Residency in the Netherlands or EU residence is required.
- Experience in aquaculture, specifically related to fish welfare, system management, and maintenance within a recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) environment.
- Ability to manage production systems and maintenance of life support systems.
- Ability to manage feeding according to rearing strategy.
- Experience assisting with fish transfers and grading.
- Knowledge of and ability to ensure and optimize biosecurity measures.
- Ability to work in a shift system, including day shifts, night shifts, and weekend shifts, starting at 7.00 AM.
- Ability to work in a healthy and safe manner for both animals and people within all departments.
- Skills in quality control and assurance related to fish welfare.
- Physical ability to perform tasks related to fish transfers, grading, and system management in a production environment.
