Job Description
The Unit Cell Engineer is responsible for designing and developing electrochemical cell components for flow batteries, focusing on optimizing performance, durability, and cost, while bridging fundamental research and commercialization efforts in energy storage technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop electrochemical cell components for flow batteries
- Optimize performance, durability, and cost of unit cell components
- Select materials and create hardware designs for flow frames, seal interfaces, and other components
- Develop testing and verification procedures to ensure performance and reliability at the pre-product stage
- Bridge fundamental research and commercialization of flow battery unit cell technologies
Requirements
- Experience in the design and development of electrochemical cell components for flow batteries, with a focus on optimizing performance, durability, and cost.
- Ability to select appropriate materials for electrochemical cell components, including hardware designs, flow frames, seal interfaces, and other unit cell components.
- Experience in developing novel testing and verification procedures to ensure the unit cell meets performance and reliability goals at the pre-product development stage.
- Proficiency in creating hardware designs related to electrochemical flow battery unit cells.
- Understanding of the gap between fundamental research and the commercialization of new flow battery unit cell technologies.
