Job Description
The role involves designing and analyzing mechanical structures for solid-state batteries, ensuring manufacturability, safety, and performance, while supporting integration, troubleshooting, and documentation efforts in a cutting-edge energy storage company.
Key Responsibilities
- Design cell mechanical structures and produce detailed 2D and 3D drawings
- Review mechanical designs for feasibility, manufacturability, and performance
- Optimize mechanical designs to enhance safety, yield, productivity, and reliability
- Design and qualify jigs, fixtures, and mechanical components such as tabs, foils, trays, and cover plates
- Analyze cell breathing and swelling to manage mechanical expansion risks
- Perform dimensional stack-up, tolerance analysis, and support mass production readiness
- Support module-level mechanical integration and participate in design reviews
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions
- Create and maintain BOMs, assembly drawings, mechanical specifications, and documentation
Requirements
- BS or MS degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- At least 3 years of mechanical design experience in product development within the battery industry (preferred)
- Proficiency with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo, etc.
- Working knowledge of ASME standards and GD&T practices
- Strong communication and collaboration skills in cross-functional environments
- Self-motivated with a strong problem-solving mindset and accountability for results
- English fluency is required
