Job Description
The role involves leading the development and optimization of next-generation solid-state battery cells, managing engineering teams, and collaborating with manufacturing and external partners to ensure successful product design, validation, and mass production.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage multiple cell design teams to develop different battery cells and finalize designs for manufacturing handoff
- Define the cell bill of materials, create cell drawings, and ensure cell meets all requirements
- Lead the design, development, and validation of next-generation battery cells
- Execute product development processes including concept, design, validation, and production validation
- Conduct root cause analysis and develop mitigation plans for design and process improvements
- Lead Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA), and other quality and reliability assessments
- Innovate and improve lithium secondary battery processes, equipment, and design for manufacturing and quality
- Support project teams in resolving production and quality issues
- Lead design-for-cost and value-engineering initiatives
- Collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers to meet manufacturing capabilities and design specifications
- Prepare RFQ/RFI documentation and communicate with OEM customers
- Work closely with production teams to scale up and optimize mass production of battery cells
Requirements
- 5 years of experience in silicon chemistry related lithium-ion battery product development from an established cell supplier, or automotive OEM
- The silicon cell development experience is mandatory
- 2 years of management experience
- Experience in mass production of lithium batteries
- Good written and basic verbal communication skills in English
- Fully located on-site in Korea, working closely with US team requiring late night occasionally passing early midnight work
