Job Description

A managerial role focused on leading the development and optimization of next-generation solid-state battery cells, overseeing design, validation, manufacturing processes, and collaboration with internal and external teams to advance energy storage technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of next-generation battery cells.
  • Manage multiple cell design teams and oversee their project execution.
  • Define the cell bill of materials, create cell drawings, and ensure design requirements are met.
  • Guide product development through concept, design, and validation phases including CV, DV, and PV.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement mitigation plans for design and manufacturing issues.
  • Lead design for manufacturing (DFM) and failure mode effects analysis (FMEA) processes.
  • Innovate in lithium secondary battery design, validation, and process improvement.
  • Develop and optimize large cell fabrication processes for scale-up and mass production.
  • Provide engineering support to resolve production and quality issues.
  • Lead cost reduction and value engineering initiatives.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers to meet manufacturing capabilities.
  • Communicate with OEM customers and prepare RFQ/RFI documentation.

Requirements

  • 5 years of experience in silicon chemistry related lithium-ion battery product development from an established cell supplier or automotive OEM
  • The silicon cell development experience is mandatory
  • 2 years of management experience
  • Experience in mass production of lithium batteries
  • Good written and basic verbal communication skills in English
  • Ability to be fully located on-site in Korea, working closely with the US team, requiring late night or early midnight work
