Job Description
The Electrical Engineer will lead electrical standardization, troubleshooting, and process improvements across multiple wood pellet manufacturing plants, supporting automation, power distribution, and control systems to ensure operational efficiency and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and implement electrical solutions across multiple plants using PLCs and hardware.
- Lead electrical standardization, modifications, and hardware upgrades to improve plant uptime.
- Develop, communicate, and train personnel on Standard Operating Procedures for electrical equipment.
- Support new plant design and review engineering documentation related to electrical controls and instrumentation.
- Provide technical support for electrical system integration, troubleshooting, and reliability efforts.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory codes in electrical design and operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in electrical controls engineering.
- 7 years of relevant experience in I E work including but not limited to Instrument specification and installation, Communication Networking Installation, Server Installation, Wiring Loop Diagrams, ControlLogix PLC architecture, Eaton, Siemens, AB Switchgear, Power Distribution Panel Layouts including grounding, Interlock and continuous control logic development, Data Historian architecture and implementation, FAT and commissioning of PLC DCS system including field instrumentation.
- Must be able to read and modify electrical schematics and be familiar with ControlLogix ladder logic.
- Experience in Allen Bradley ControlLogix PLC and HMI programming software is a plus.
- Proficient knowledge of electrical distribution and MCCs.
- Experience supporting a continuous manufacturing environment such as pulp and paper mill or wood products industry is a plus.
- Must be data-driven and possess a high level of attention to detail.
- Project management experience, including developing project scope, budgets, and schedules.
- Ability to work well in a team environment, be a self-starter, and results-oriented.
- Ability to work effectively with other disciplines such as IT, process engineering, and maintenance to understand manufacturing system functionality and design requirements.
- Proactive regarding safety, with the ability to identify and correct potential safety or environmental deviations before they occur.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with the ability to learn other applications related to the job.
- Must be able to achieve the requirements of Enviva’s standard Controls Engineer technical evaluation, including both written and hands-on portions.
- Willing and able to work around moving equipment and machinery.
- Willing and able to pull and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Travel within 3 to 4 hours from home base, including possible travel to other regions and quarterly travel to RDU or other sites.
- Physical ability to perform essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA, and other standards.
