Job Description
The Senior Software Product Owner will lead the development and management of complex software ecosystems, translating business needs into technical solutions, implementing Agile processes, and guiding a team of product owners and analysts to deliver value across multiple platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead assessment of product opportunities and risks, including providing cost estimates
- Implement and improve Agile processes in a hybrid planning environment
- Manage and prioritize a complex product backlog in collaboration with stakeholders
- Design products by preparing functional specifications and guiding prototyping
- Translate customer needs into actionable plans for engineering and design teams
- Establish and maintain product roadmaps and monitor platform health and initiatives
- Meet with stakeholders to discuss application functionality and provide feedback
- Own and refine user stories and epics in Jira to translate requirements into actionable work
- Monitor software development progress to ensure business expectations are met
- Communicate product development status and results across the organization
- Define product metrics to optimize effectiveness and coach other product owners
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or other engineering degree.
- Ten (10) years of experience as a product owner successfully delivering multiple products through a complete Product Development Lifecycle (PDLC) lifecycle.
- Ten (10) years of experience working with software developers understanding the process of effective delivery and release of software.
- Leadership experience managing small teams of 3 to 5 junior product owners and business system analysts (BSAs).
- Good technical analyst skills translating business needs into technical specifications.
- Proven experience in working on data-focused product development and a good understanding of defining KPIs for product development.
- Strong communication skills, especially adept at communicating effectively between non-technical users and software developers.
- Experience managing a complex backlog in collaboration with business and technology stakeholders, including building a standardized process for managing backlog and future work requests.
- Experience leading assessment of product opportunities and risks, including providing cost estimates.
- Experience leading Agile process implementation and improvement in a hybrid planning environment.
- Ability to manage and prioritize features, own and refine user stories and epics in Jira, and translate product requirements into work that is actionable by the development team.
- Experience developing and maintaining product roadmaps, including platform health and customer initiatives.
- Ability to meet with business stakeholders to discuss application functionality related to enterprise-wide or specific program initiatives due to contractual agreements.
- Experience conducting or participating in meetings to identify requirements and provide feedback to ensure technology applications support customer needs.
- Monitoring progress of software development efforts to ensure business expectations are met and barriers are minimized.
- Leading efforts to define product metrics to optimize product effectiveness.
- Experience in preparing well-documented functional specifications and workflows, guiding product prototyping and proof of concepts.
- Ability to translate customer needs into actionable plans for engineering and design teams, owning features end-to-end, and prioritizing the product backlog to deliver maximum value.
- Experience establishing and maintaining product roadmaps including platform health and customer initiatives.
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or other engineering degree.
- Experience in public-facing software delivery is a plus.
Benefits & Perks
Salary range of 107,000 to 140,000 USD with a target of 126,000 USD
Hybrid work schedule with at least 1 day onsite per week (Wednesdays)
