Job Description
The role involves leading and managing a software engineering department focused on developing reusable software solutions to support energy efficiency and sustainability programs, while aligning technical strategies with business goals in a hybrid work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and scale multiple engineering teams of approximately 35 developers.
- Manage resource allocation between client projects and internal platform development.
- Establish and enforce software architecture standards for scalability, modularity, and performance.
- Drive adoption of modern engineering practices such as CI/CD, automated testing, and small commits.
- Collaborate with data teams to ensure high-quality data production and seamless system integration.
- Guide the migration of legacy systems and adoption of new technologies and frameworks.
- Oversee the full software development lifecycle, ensuring code quality, testing, and documentation.
- Ensure security controls, compliance standards, and data protection protocols are maintained.
- Monitor delivery timelines, mitigate risks, and ensure client expectations are met within scope and budget.
Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years in software engineering, with at least 4 years in a Director or Senior Management role leading teams of 25 or more people.
- Deep roots in the Python ecosystem, with experience building complex applications using Django.
- Strong understanding of relational databases and cloud infrastructure platforms including AWS, Azure, and GCP.
- Proven ability to influence partners while mentoring and maturing a software engineering team, including supervisors, with effective delegation and communication skills.
- Exceptional ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and clients.
- Experience managing remote or distributed engineering teams.
- Experience working in a Professional Services Consultancy environment and shipping SaaS or PaaS products is highly preferred.
- Experience overseeing the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including standards for code quality, testing, and documentation.
- Ability to establish and enforce security controls, compliance standards, and data protection protocols across all client projects.
- Ability to establish and track engineering metrics to drive process improvements, increase velocity, and reduce technical debt.
- Experience collaborating with product owners, project managers, business systems analysts, and business partners to ensure client deliverables are shipped on time and within budget, while managing stakeholder expectations regarding technical feasibility, timelines, and scope.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (preferred but not explicitly required).
- Hands-on experience or theoretical knowledge of Generative AI and Large Language Model (LLM) integration in enterprise software (preferred).
- Ability to perform a background check, including a drug screen and authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely.
- Willingness to work in a hybrid environment, working onsite at least 1 day per week with flexibility for the remainder of the week.

Salary range of 145,000 to 170,000 USD, with target compensation of 145,000 to 161,000 USD based on experience and qualifications
