The Billing Manager oversees the end-to-end invoicing process, manages a billing team, ensures compliance with accounting standards, and supports system improvements and audits within a remote-focused energy solutions company.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the end-to-end invoicing process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with GAAP and internal controls
Manage and supervise the billing team, assigning work and monitoring progress
Review billing outputs for adherence to internal controls and accounting standards
Coordinate with vendors and clients to resolve billing discrepancies
Support month-end closing activities, including preparing invoices and sales reports for the General Ledger
Assist with reconciliations, documentation, and audit requests related to invoicing
Evaluate and improve billing procedures through process improvements or automation
Serve as a Subject Matter Expert for ERP system developments, upgrades, and billing enhancements
Requirements
Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
7 years of progressive billing or invoicing experience in a professional environment.
2 years of experience supervising or leading a billing or finance support team.
Proven track record supporting ERP implementations, system upgrades, or billing enhancements.
Experience supporting audit activities, reconciliations, or compliance reviews related to invoicing.
Experience interacting and collaborating with internal stakeholders, clients, and external vendors.
Strong attention to detail, with the ability to review and validate billing data for accuracy.
Excellent verbal and written skills with the ability to explain financial data clearly to internal stakeholders and external clients.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities under recurring deadlines.
Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office, including strong Excel skills for tracking, reconciliation, and reporting.
Strong working knowledge of GAAP and internal financial controls.
