Job Description
The Senior Accountant in the Financial Reporting department is responsible for ensuring high-quality external and internal financial reporting, interpreting complex accounting guidance, and supporting process improvements, SOX compliance, and collaboration with internal teams and auditors.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review external and internal financial reports ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Interpret and apply technical accounting guidance for financing, equity, and non-routine transactions
- Engage in process optimization and analytical review of financial data
- Ensure SOX compliance through controls testing and documentation
- Collaborate with controllership, finance, treasury, legal, property management, and other internal teams
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors to facilitate audits and financial reviews
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting or financial reporting, preferably within real estate or a similar industry.
- Experience in preparing and reviewing financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Strong understanding of technical accounting guidance related to financing, equity, and non-routine transactions.
- Proficiency in process optimization and analytical review of financial data.
- Knowledge of SOX compliance requirements and experience in ensuring adherence to internal controls.
- Ability to coordinate and collaborate closely with personnel within controllership, finance, treasury, legal, property management, and other organizational groups.
- Experience working with internal and external auditors, including front-facing communication and documentation.
- Excellent communication skills to interpret and explain complex accounting guidance clearly.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
