The position involves leading on-site safety management during the construction of a utility-scale solar project, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, conducting inspections and investigations, and fostering a proactive safety culture to support project success.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the primary on-site safety representative during project construction
Oversee and monitor contractor and subcontractor compliance with OSHA regulations and safety policies
Conduct daily safety observations, inspections, and audits, and track corrective actions
Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and develop corrective and preventive actions
Review and approve Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), and high-risk work plans
Facilitate safety meetings, toolbox talks, and site safety orientations
Provide coaching and mentorship to field leadership and craft personnel on safety performance
Maintain accurate safety documentation, reports, and metrics for project and corporate leadership
Partner with project management to integrate safety into scheduling, planning, and execution activities
Model and promote safety values and expectations as a visible safety leader on site
Requirements
Minimum 5 to 10 years of construction safety experience, preferably in utility-scale solar, renewable energy, or heavy civil industrial construction.
Proven experience functioning in an owner’s representative or site safety leadership role.
Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations 29 CFR 1910 and 1926 and construction safety best practices.
Demonstrated ability to lead in a field environment, influence without authority, and build strong working relationships with contractors and project teams.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
Proficient in conducting audits, inspections, incident investigations, and safety coaching.
OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification is required.
Additional preferred certifications include CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician), First Aid, CPR, AED, and Train-the-Trainer or equivalent safety training credentials.

Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Procore HIS.
Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures, including wearing PPE such as hard hats, arc flash protection, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
Physical ability to sit, stoop, kneel, bend, stand, or walk for 8-10 hours a day.
Physical ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
