Job Description

The Senior Project Accountant at Cypress Creek Renewables is responsible for managing project financials, including cost analysis, forecasting, invoicing, and financial reporting, to support the company's solar and storage projects. The role involves collaboration with operational teams and ensures accurate accounting and compliance across projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Track margins on all active projects in collaboration with operations personnel
  • Provide forecasts and estimates for project cash flow and financial data
  • Perform ongoing analysis of forecast versus actual project costs
  • Investigate significant discrepancies between expected and actual costs
  • Monitor revenue inflows and outflows to ensure proper billing and revenue recognition
  • Review coding on open purchase orders and paid invoices to ensure accurate margin tracking
  • Allocate large overhead costs to projects on a monthly basis
  • Prepare financial reports and journal entries, including accruals and adjustments
  • Maintain schedules and assist with management reporting requests
  • Track and record inventory transfers and equipment allocations
  • Review accounts receivable and accounts payable for accuracy and timeliness
  • Close out stale purchase orders in collaboration with operations
  • Review quarterly customer invoicing and supporting documentation
  • Assist with quarterly and monthly financial analytics and high-level reporting
  • Support the annual audit process and ensure compliance with tax requirements

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; public accounting experience is a plus
  • 3-5 years of experience in accounting
  • Previous experience in an accountant or audit role in the construction or maintenance industry is highly preferable
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong accounting knowledge
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be inquisitive, have the desire to learn, and demonstrate initiative to reach out to various departments to complete tasks
  • Excellent analytical reasoning abilities
  • Superior interpersonal abilities, including the ability to get along with diverse personalities, tactfulness, maturity, and flexibility
  • Effective communication skills with support peers, all levels of corporate management, and independent auditors
  • Results and people-oriented mindset with sound judgment and the ability to balance other business considerations
  • Thorough, detail-oriented, highly organized, and capable of performing effective self-reviews
  • Comfortable working in a hybrid environment, working in the office at least 3 days per week in Durham, NC, and remotely some days
  • Ability to work with individuals and groups over Zoom, including those in different offices and time zones
