The Senior Associate Manager, Quantitative Analytics at Cypress Creek Energy is responsible for developing and maintaining quantitative models to optimize solar and storage assets, support trading strategies, and assess market opportunities, while mentoring junior team members and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, maintain, and own quantitative models for trading strategy, asset optimization, and commercial structuring.
Create and manage tools for risk management, pricing of offtake agreements, and risk exposure evaluation.
Monitor market signals and incorporate weather, solar generation, load, and transmission data into decision-making frameworks.
Support short-term BESS optimization through automated forecasting and day-ahead strategies.
Review commercial terms of PPAs, identify risks, and propose mitigation strategies.
Structure value-added products leveraging solar and storage assets to support pricing and commercial innovation.
Apply machine learning and optimization techniques to improve forecast accuracy and strategy performance.
Mentor junior team members, review models and analytical outputs, and uphold quality standards.
Translate complex quantitative insights into clear, actionable information for stakeholders.
Lead recurring analytical deliverables and proactively identify improvements and gaps.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align analytics with business priorities.
Requirements
A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in competitive energy markets, experience on a power trading desk or in a quantitative analytics role at a renewable developer, independent power producer (IPP), or energy hedge fund is strongly preferred.
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a closely related field.
Strong Python and SQL skills required.
Proficiency with modern AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, and strong Git version control practices, including code review workflows and collaborative development in a shared codebase.
Working knowledge of US power market structure, protocols, and settlement mechanics, particularly ERCOT and/or PJM.
Experience with valuation of structured products, derivatives, and renewable offtake agreements.
Familiarity with machine learning and AI techniques applied to energy forecasting or optimization, including price forecasting, dispatch optimization, and curtailment modeling.
Proven ability to communicate quantitative work clearly to non-technical audiences.
Track record of mentoring junior colleagues, providing constructive feedback, or leading technical workstreams.
Strong commercial instincts, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities independently.
Understanding of renewable generation technology, especially solar PV and battery storage.
