The Project Manager will oversee the planning, execution, and completion of utility-scale solar and storage projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety and environmental standards, while coordinating with internal teams and external stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the primary point of contact and subject matter expert for a portfolio of projects.
Support construction due diligence, including constructability reviews, risk analyses, and developing project schedules and budgets.
Provide leadership during construction, ensuring safety, quality, schedule, cost, environmental, landowner, and legal requirements are met.
Manage construction contracts, including tracking deliverables, schedules, change orders, and dispute resolution.
Develop and implement project execution plans and oversee their communication to stakeholders.
Coordinate and manage relationships with internal teams, contractors, suppliers, landowners, and external agencies.
Supervise and mentor Construction Site Managers and other project staff.
Ensure compliance with environmental, health, safety regulations, and permitting requirements.
Monitor and analyze project budgets, costs, forecasts, and financial performance against goals.
Interface with external entities such as lenders, permitting agencies, utilities, and local governments during construction.
Requirements
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management or related field.
Project Management Professional certification is a plus.
2-3 years of experience in the renewable energy sector or industrial construction or capital project management.
Advanced knowledge of construction management and constructing methods for large projects, contract management, procurement, and supply chain management, environmental and building permitting, and transportation logistics.
Basic knowledge of construction labor relations throughout the US.
Proficient understanding of entire solar project life cycle.
Experience with High Voltage Interconnection aspects of a project’s scope of work.
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Project, Excel, PowerBI), Procore, SiteTracker, NetSuite, and other discipline-relevant software.
Ability to support, develop, and implement a project execution plan that is formally communicated to all project stakeholders.
Ability to understand the implications of various technical options and guide engineering designs to achieve the best solution for each situation.
Ability to ensure projects are adequately staffed, trained, and adhere to standard construction policies, procedures, and programs, with well-documented communications, issues, change orders, and quality items.
Ability to provide leadership during project construction activities, ensuring safety, quality, schedule, cost, environmental, landowner, and other project requirements are met or exceeded.
Ability to manage all aspects of project construction contracts including EPC, Owner-Furnished Equipment, Interconnection Agreement, and technical consultants, holding contractors and suppliers accountable to contractual requirements.
Ability to manage construction contracts including tracking deliverables, schedules, cash flow, RFIs, change orders, and dispute resolution if required.
Ability to consolidate, manage, and analyze budgets, costs, forecasts, and utilization against established financial goals.
Experience in developing effective relationships with internal departments, contractors, suppliers, landowners, and other stakeholders.
Experience in managing Operations and Maintenance contract handoff and coordination, and ensuring closeout of EPC contracts at Final Acceptance.
Strong organizational skills and multitasking ability.
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
Self-motivated and capable of performing tasks with minimal supervision.
Ability to work well in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and meet deadlines.
Commitment to continuous improvement and analytical problem-solving.
Ability to create and implement programs and policies involving multiple departments.
Willingness to travel approximately 35%.
Must hold a valid driver’s license.
