The Field Service Technician at Cypress Creek is responsible for performing preventative and corrective maintenance on utility-scale solar PV systems, troubleshooting electrical issues, and ensuring safe and efficient operation of solar assets across multiple sites.
Key Responsibilities
Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of solar PV systems on-site
Conduct DC and AC testing, including polarity, voltage, grounding, insulation resistance, and I-V curve tracing
Maintain tools, meters, vehicles, and spare parts inventory
Create service reports and document system issues
Identify and eliminate safety hazards in the work environment
Respond to emergency repair cases and on-call service requests
Requirements
Possession of a valid Driver's License.
Ability to travel, work on-call during off-shift hours and weekends.
Work is to be performed in the field and in the office, requiring excellent attendance and punctuality.
Must be able to sit, stoop, kneel, bend, stand, or walk for 8-10 hours a day.
Must be able to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
Must have the ability to create service reports and maintain spare parts inventory.
Must have the ability to identify safety hazards and take appropriate action to remove or eliminate hazards.
Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures, including wearing PPE such as hard hats, arc flash protection, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
Must have a minimum of 3-4 years of experience in PV maintenance, including PV DC operations, AC medium voltage systems, network communications, and monitoring.
Must have experience with operation of SCADA, DAS, and UPS systems.
Must be skilled in the use of testing equipment and tools such as thermographic electrical inspection devices, IV curve tracing, megohmmeters, and ground fault detection tools.
Must have diagnostic capabilities to troubleshoot and correct problems found in PV systems.
Must have knowledge of the National Electrical Code and standard design construction practices.
Must be able to read and understand electrical single-line and three-line diagrams.
Must be proficient with MS Office suite.
Must have OSHA 10 HR Training.
Must have NFPA 70E Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace certification.
Must be NABCEP Certified Installation Professional.
Must have the ability to perform on-site routine maintenance, service, troubleshooting, and repair of solar photovoltaic facilities, including DC and AC testing such as polarity, open circuit voltage, grounding continuity, communication, and insulation resistance testing.
Must be able to respond to corrective maintenance cases to troubleshoot, test, and repair PV systems ensuring safe practices are followed.
Must have a positive project team attitude and the ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
