Job Description

The Manager, Business Development at Copia Power is responsible for executing mergers and acquisitions, financial modeling, due diligence, and negotiating project contracts for utility-scale solar, storage, and digital infrastructure projects to support the company's growth in renewable energy infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead transaction execution activities for utility-scale solar and storage project acquisitions, dispositions, and strategic partnerships.
  • Manage internal underwriting processes, including constructing and optimizing project financial models.
  • Coordinate due diligence investigations with internal and external resources.
  • Support negotiation of definitive project documentation and major contracts such as offtake, procurement, and EPC agreements.
  • Prepare and present approval materials for executive and board-level investment decisions.
  • Provide analytical support by translating project contracts into dynamic financial models and sensitivities.
  • Review and analyze key commercial terms and obligations across project contracts.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of professional experience, including at least 2 years in substantially similar quantitative roles working directly with utility-scale solar and storage projects and related investment decisions.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher, preferably in a quantitative field.
  • Experience in M A transaction including utility-scale solar and storage project and portfolio acquisitions, either as deal lead or as a key contributor in supporting roles.
  • Advanced Excel capabilities with the ability to build, validate, and sensitize dynamic models with project finance structures including construction debt, term debt, tax equity, and preferred equity.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with experience supporting investment decisions and internal approval processes.
  • Ability to work out of Copia’s Washington, DC, office 3 days per week.
  • Ability to travel up to 15%.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
