The Director of Thermal Development is responsible for leading the development, permitting, and construction of thermal power generation projects, managing project portfolios, coordinating interdisciplinary teams, and supporting project financing and acquisitions within a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead development of early and late-stage thermal energy projects from inception to commissioning and handover.
Manage project portfolio including budgeting, planning, risk assessment, and setting priorities based on development metrics and offtake potential.
Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams and manage third-party consultants throughout project development and construction.
Facilitate permitting processes, including permit strategy, tracking efforts, working with authorities, and securing entitlements.
Collaborate on site siting, project design, technology options, resource assessments, and procurement strategies.
Negotiate critical project agreements such as equipment supply contracts, PPAs, IAs, EPC, and O&M agreements.
Conduct due diligence on project or portfolio acquisitions, assessing risks, valuations, and making recommendations on transactions.
Requirements
Candidates must have 7 years of professional experience in the energy industry.
Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree (preferred).
Proven experience with Microsoft Office, including advanced proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel.
Experience with project management software.
Ability to work in the Dana Point, Salt Lake City, or Lake Oswego office a minimum of 3 days per week.
Ability to travel up to 30%.
