Job Description
The Solar Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing solar PV systems and related equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and profitable solar power plant operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, maintain, service, and repair solar PV systems and associated equipment.
- Perform corrective, preventive, and emergency maintenance on solar equipment.
- Operate electrical and mechanical systems of the solar power plant.
- Execute electrical troubleshooting, instrumentation calibration, and complex repairs.
- Complete work orders and documentation related to maintenance and operations.
- Ensure all work complies with environmental and safety regulations.
Requirements
- Possess a high school diploma or GED, or be willing to obtain a GED within the first 6 months of employment.
- Demonstrate mechanical aptitude and basic electrical knowledge.
- Understand general workplace safety and be able to follow safety standards, as well as help the company improve upon the standards in place.
- Have a valid state driver’s license and a good driving record, and be able to operate a company vehicle.
- Ability to work overtime and non-standard working hours including nights, holidays, and weekends, when needed.
- Possess professionalism and excellent communication skills.
- Ability to operate a computer with technical proficiency of standard business software.
- Have knowledge of applicable safety and environmental regulations.
- Able to work both independently and as part of a multi-tasking team.
- At Level II, have at least 1 year of experience in a power plant or PV Solar O&M EPC experience.
- At Level II, have 2 years of field experience with significant I E, I C and/or C I Electrician experience, which will be considered in lieu of applicable solar experience.
- At Level III, have at least 4 years of PV solar experience, with I E, I C and/or C I Electrician experience considered in lieu of applicable experience.
- At Level III, have proven experience with a multitude of electrical construction projects.
- At Level III, possess demonstrated knowledge of electrical or mechanical fundamentals, including Journeyman skills such as electrical measurements, control circuits, and solid state theory application.
- At Level III, have knowledge of complex analog and digital instrumentation and control systems.
- At Level III, have proper methods for troubleshooting, repairing, and adjusting instruments and control systems.
- At Level III, have experience administering safe methods to clear equipment, use of tools, and plant safety rules.
- At Level III, understand reporting procedures, maintenance procedures, and practices.
- At Level III, have knowledge of electrical and mechanical prints and PV Solar plant terminology and nomenclature.
- Be qualified to perform routine and emergency operations at a solar generation facility and switchyard.
- Able to communicate verbally and in writing and work without direct supervision during the performance of work.

Salary range: $54,000 - $107,000 USD depending on experience and location
