Job Description
The Operations Specialist I supports the real-time monitoring, performance analysis, and operational management of renewable energy assets such as wind, solar, and battery storage, ensuring safety, reliability, and environmental standards while coordinating with various teams and external entities in a high-pressure, rotating shift environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyze real-time activities, performance, and operational status of energy assets
- Identify and respond to abnormal operating and alarm conditions
- Manage power plant operations considering regional requirements and regulations
- Coordinate remedial actions to maximize equipment availability and revenue
- Interpret and execute activities related to asset contracts and remote-control capabilities
- Operate multiple power plants in compliance with regulatory standards
- Coordinate with field operations, external entities, and project teams for plant status and safety
Requirements
- Ability to work in a high-stress environment where decisions directly impact personnel safety and equipment reliability.
- Proven experience in operating electrical and SCADA systems, with the ability to demonstrate competent technical knowledge of plant and system processes.
- Two years of experience in Operations or a Solar and Wind Field Technician Role is preferred.
- Ability to coordinate multiple activities and ensure safety, quality, and schedule adherence.
- Ability to interpret and execute activities associated with asset contracts such as PPAs, LGIAs, and O M agreements, including capacity scheduling reporting, telemetry issues, or remote-control capability impacts.
- Ability to proactively monitor and analyze real-time activities, performance, and operational status of assets to determine root cause and maintain data integrity for operational events.
- Ability to understand and proactively identify abnormal operating and alarm conditions during shifts and react accordingly.
- Ability to manage power plant operations considering different requirements for each plant based on location, generation type, interconnect requirements, regional regulations, and customer contractual requirements.
- Ability to coordinate with external entities such as Scheduling Coordinators, Transmission Operators, and Reliability Entities for status notifications or Operating Instructions.
- Ability to support the commissioning of projects by coordinating test energy scheduling and power plant operations activities, ensuring safety, regulatory, environmental, and operating compliance.
- Availability to work rotating shifts of 12.5 hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Availability for 24-hour on-call duty to meet customer requirements.
- GED or High School Diploma is required.

Salary range: $64,000 - $88,000 USD
