Job Description
The position involves conducting economic and statistical analyses related to employment practices and litigation, using techniques such as machine learning and regression modeling, while providing expert insights and client support within a consulting environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research and analysis on employment data and legal disputes related to employment practices
- Use statistical, machine learning, and deep learning techniques to evaluate models and conduct fair lending analyses
- Program, build, and perform regression analyses using tools like Stata, SAS, Python, or R
- Supervise, train, and mentor junior analysts
- Develop and present client deliverables such as expert reports and white papers
- Serve as a primary contact for attorneys and clients on practice-relevant issues
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of analytical work and opinions
Requirements
- A PhD degree in economics with an academic focus on quantitative research, with specializations like industrial organization, applied microeconomics, econometrics, labor, corporate finance, financial accounting, or other quantitative areas, and up to 3 years of relevant professional experience in designing and performing economic analyses, with consulting experience preferred
- Alternatively, Bachelor’s or Master’s degrees with 5-7 years of relevant professional experience in designing and performing economic analyses, with consulting experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of economic concepts and a range of research and quantitative skills
- Experience in conducting research in a team-oriented environment alongside academics, industry experts, and regulators
- Proficiency in techniques from statistics, machine learning, and deep learning to conduct fair lending analyses of client models and tools, including evaluating whether models have disparate effects on different demographic groups and how these effects vary among alternative model formulations
- Ability to program, build models, and perform regression analyses in statistical analysis programs such as Stata, SAS, Python, or R that clean, coordinate, and analyze large volumes of data related to underwriting, pricing, and redlining analyses
- Supervisory, training, and mentoring skills for junior analysts
- Ability to assist in the development and presentation of client deliverables, including expert reports and white papers, to explain analytical decisions and ensure compliance with clients’ model risk management and validation requirements
- Ability to act as a primary point of contact for attorneys and other industry or government clients on practice-relevant issues
- Demonstrated high level of initiative and leadership
- Excellent time management and task prioritization skills
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated understanding of, and ability to explain, economic, financial, and accounting concepts, as well as quantitative and qualitative analysis methods
- Experience with statistical and data analysis tools such as Stata, Python, R, SQL, SAS, Excel, ArcGIS, or ArcPy
- Willingness to work primarily in an office environment with minimal travel, approximately 3 to 4 days per week, including potential travel to other CRA offices or client locations
- Ability to work in a collaborative team environment and demonstrate a strong interest in consulting through coursework, work experience, activities, or participation in CRA recruiting events
Benefits & Perks
Compensation/salary range: $120,000 - $160,000 (base salary, with potential for bonuses and benefits)
