Job Description

The position involves providing economic analysis and support on competition law and regulation cases, working with data, building models, and communicating complex economic concepts to clients within a consulting environment focused on European competition policy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify potential issues and conduct analyses to illustrate economic arguments
  • Assemble evidence from data and research to support expert opinions and recommendations
  • Program, build models, and perform regression analyses using statistical analysis tools
  • Assist in developing and presenting client deliverables such as expert reports and white papers
  • Communicate complex economic concepts and arguments to non-experts
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of analyses and opinions
  • Participate in practice-building activities including training, recruiting, and publication

Requirements

  • A postgraduate qualification in economics (such as MSc or MPhil) from a well-regarded institution, with a strong foundation in microeconomics and preferably a specialization in industrial economics.
  • Up to 3 years of relevant work experience within consulting, business, or with a competition authority.
  • Strong first degree in economics.
  • High degree of numeracy and comfort with data manipulation.
  • Familiarity with econometric techniques is desirable.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated high level of initiative and leadership.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration capabilities.
  • Excellent time management and task prioritization skills.
  • Ability to identify potential issues and conduct analyses that illustrate economic arguments.
  • Ability to assemble compelling evidence from data and research to support expert opinions and business recommendations.
  • Proficiency in programming, building models, or performing regression analyses in statistical analysis programs such as Stata, Python, or R, including handling large data projects requiring use of cloud computing.
  • Ability to assist in the development and presentation of client deliverables, including expert reports and white papers summarizing opinions, conclusions, and recommendations using financial, market, industry, or client-proprietary data.
  • Ability to interact with clients and communicate complex economic concepts and arguments to non-experts in an understandable and accessible manner.
