Job Description
The role involves providing expert economic testimony and analysis in the energy sector, primarily focusing on electricity and gas markets, while leading the development of CRA's European Energy Practice through client engagement, team building, and thought leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a testifying expert in regulatory, litigation, and arbitration settings for electric and gas sectors.
- Build and lead CRA's European Energy Practice by recruiting, mentoring, and developing a team.
- Collaborate with colleagues across North America and Europe to apply market frameworks and models to European clients.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships with utilities, regulators, policymakers, investors, and developers.
- Contribute to thought leadership through publications, conference participation, and public testimony.
Requirements
- An advanced degree such as a PhD or Master’s in Economics, Energy Economics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
- Significant professional experience of typically 10 years in energy economics, including electricity and gas market analysis or regulatory consulting.
- Proven track record as a testifying expert in regulatory, litigation, and arbitration settings, providing credible, independent economic evidence.
- Deep knowledge of European or UK energy markets, regulatory frameworks, and decarbonization policy.
- Demonstrated ability to originate and manage client engagements while mentoring and developing junior colleagues.
- Strong quantitative and analytical expertise, with the ability to lead modeling and economic analysis.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to clearly and persuasively convey complex economic issues.
