Job Description
A Senior Software Engineer in Release Infrastructure at Celonis is responsible for developing and maintaining core systems that improve software delivery, automation, and reliability across engineering teams, enabling faster and more secure deployment of features at scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Accelerate software delivery by improving automation and tooling to reduce time to production
- Design and implement developer-facing infrastructure to reduce friction and enhance software quality
- Partner with leadership to define the vision and roadmap for the internal developer platform
- Lead initiatives to expand GitOps, Infrastructure as Code, and self-service deployment patterns
- Scale feature flag-based deployment strategies for controlled, reliable rollouts
- Enhance observability, incident response, and deployment safety across the software stack
- Own critical systems from concept to rollout in collaboration with SRE, infrastructure, and product teams
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in backend, DevOps, and/or platform engineering roles.
- Experience as a full stack engineer, working end to end.
- Strong programming skills in at least one modern language such as Python, Go, or Java.
- Solid understanding of modern cloud-native systems, especially containers and Kubernetes.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and monitoring.
- Proven ability to lead projects or own critical systems in production.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience in building highly available, scalable, distributed systems in a microservices-based architecture (preferred but not mandatory).
- Experience with GitOps and deployment tools such as ArgoCD, Kargo, Flux, Helm, or Kustomize (preferred but not mandatory).
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or Pulumi (preferred but not mandatory).
- Experience with observability platforms such as Datadog, Grafana, or Prometheus (preferred but not mandatory).
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP (preferred but not mandatory).
- Experience with developer platform or internal tooling in a fast-paced environment (preferred but not mandatory).
- Strong understanding of SDLC practices (preferred but not mandatory).
- Hands-on experience with IaC, GitOps, and CI/CD (preferred but not mandatory).
- Working knowledge of containerization, network protocols, encryption, and security (preferred but not mandatory).
- Experience operating Kubernetes clusters in production across multiple infrastructures (preferred but not mandatory).
