Job Description

The Principal Value Engineer, Insurance at Celonis is responsible for bridging technical process mining capabilities with strategic business outcomes in the insurance industry, leading customer engagements, driving value realization, and supporting platform adoption and expansion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the lead architect for critical insurance accounts, translating operational challenges into value drivers
  • Link Celonis capabilities to industry-specific outcomes and metrics
  • Build data-backed business cases demonstrating the financial impact of Process Intelligence
  • Lead value assessments, proof-of-value projects, and communicate strategic roadmaps to executives
  • Drive engagement and oversee the value workstream for pilots and implementations
  • Guide customers on using the Celonis Sensing Layer to enhance AI and automation in claims and policy operations
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to address implementation challenges and identify process improvement opportunities
  • Facilitate workshops to identify and qualify process enhancement opportunities
  • Present results and value realization to senior management and C-level stakeholders
  • Develop reusable assets and best practices for the Value Engineering team
  • Mentor junior team members on insurance processes and stakeholder management
  • Provide feedback to product teams for platform enhancements based on customer needs
  • Manage the end-to-end customer value journey, including adoption, expansion, and renewal strategies
  • Create strategic expansion roadmaps to embed Celonis as a core business transformation platform

Requirements

  • Deep Industry Experience of 10 years of relevant experience, ideally combining time at a Carrier Reinsurer with Management Consulting or Sales Engineering, with a strong understanding of the inner workings of an insurance company.
  • Domain Expertise with granular knowledge of the insurance value chain, specifically in Claims Triage Settlement, Underwriting Risk Selection, and Distribution.
  • Proven track record of managing the full customer lifecycle, including landing new accounts, expanding footprint through strategic upselling, and driving long-term value to ensure high retention and organic advocacy.
  • Experience in identifying operational inefficiencies and driving them to resolution, with the ability to impact the P&L Loss Ratio and Expense Ratio through process improvement.
  • Technical Fluency with understanding of the modern insurance technology stack, including Guidewire, Duck Creek, and how new technologies such as AI and GenAI interact with legacy systems.
  • Experience presenting to and working with senior stakeholders, with the ability to navigate complex internal structures and clearly communicate value to non-technical audiences.
  • Builder Mentality with comfort working with ambiguity and setting own direction within an account team to achieve optimal results.
  • Educational background in Business, Finance, Risk Management, Engineering, or Mathematics.
  • Ability to construct robust, data-backed business cases that articulate the financial impact of Process Intelligence, including impact on Cost-to-Income or Loss Ratios.
  • Experience leading value workstreams for complex pilots and implementations, ensuring effective monitoring of operational resilience through digital twin strategies.
  • Ability to guide customers on using the Celonis Sensing Layer to provide context to AI agents, and coordinate hand-offs between systems and human adjusters in Claims Operations and Policy Servicing.
  • Experience working cross-functionally to address implementation hurdles and define standards for processes such as Automated Subrogation, Litigation Management, or Reinsurance processes.
  • Proven ability to facilitate business value workshops, identify and qualify opportunities for process enhancement, and derive improvement measures in core business functions.
  • Experience presenting results and realized value to senior management and C-level executives.
  • Ability to develop strategic expansion roadmaps for embedding Celonis Process Intelligence Platform as a core business transformation tool to drive adoption and expansion.
  • Willingness to serve as a senior resource and mentor for junior team members, helping them understand insurance terminology, process nuances, and stakeholder management.
  • Responsibility for the end-to-end customer value journey, including landing, expanding, adoption, and renewal of the platform.
