Job Description
The role involves leading and managing a team of engineers working on the Process Query Engine at Celonis, focusing on technical guidance, performance management, and collaboration to build scalable, reliable data processing systems in a fast-growing SaaS environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee the performance and execution of the engineering team
- Provide technical guidance and contribute to technical work within the team
- Foster a healthy team culture of trust, ownership, and collaboration
- Collaborate with product managers and other stakeholders on goals and strategies
- Prioritize initiatives and ensure timely, high-quality delivery of projects
- Participate in hiring, mentoring, and supporting the career growth of team members
Requirements
- Strong technical background in software engineering, with experience in building, leading, or operating large-scale, high-performance, reliable resilient distributed systems
- Proven track record in people management, including fostering a supportive and inclusive team culture, mentoring, and coaching to facilitate high performance and career growth
- Ability to collaborate effectively with other departments and stakeholders, such as product management and business teams, to define vision, goals, and prioritize initiatives
- Dedication to addressing the evolving needs of engineering teams and a focus on engineering and process excellence
- Proficiency in engineering close to the system hardware
- Experience working mainly in C and Java programming languages
- Ability to operate independently, demonstrate leadership across multiple groups, and define goals aligned with strategic initiatives
- Experience in managing the performance and motivation of engineering teams, including managing and facilitating career growth and performance of team members
- Experience in building and maintaining a healthy culture of trust, ownership, and collaboration within the team and department
- Ability to contribute technically within the team’s scope, provide technical guidance, and get involved in technical work when needed
- Experience in setting priorities and taking full ownership of the team’s efficient execution of initiatives, ensuring timely and quality delivery of projects and tasks including long-term, multi-quarter objectives
- Experience in hiring and growing engineering teams according to business needs
- Experience in supporting and fostering a supportive and inclusive team culture, mentoring, and coaching to facilitate high performance and career growth
