Job Description
The role involves leading a team of engineers in developing and maintaining scalable, high-performance distributed systems within Celonis' Process Query Engine team, providing technical guidance, managing team performance, and collaborating across departments to achieve strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee the performance and motivation of the engineering team
- Provide technical guidance and contribute to technical work within the team
- Collaborate with product managers and other stakeholders on goals, strategies, and priorities
- Set priorities and ensure the timely, high-quality delivery of projects and initiatives
- Participate in hiring, mentoring, and supporting the career growth of team members
- Foster a culture of trust, ownership, and collaboration within the team and department
Requirements
- Strong technical background in software engineering, with experience in building, leading, or operating large-scale, high-performance, reliable resilient distributed systems
- Proven track record in people management, including fostering a supportive and inclusive team culture, mentoring, and coaching to facilitate high performance and career growth
- Ability to collaborate effectively with other departments and stakeholders, such as product management and business teams, to define vision, goals, and prioritize initiatives
- Dedication to addressing the evolving needs of engineering teams and a focus on engineering and process excellence
- Proficiency in engineering close to the system hardware
- Experience in managing the performance and motivation of engineering teams, including overseeing their career growth and performance
- Ability to build and maintain a healthy culture of trust, ownership, and collaboration within the team and department
- Experience in technical guidance and involvement in technical work within the team’s scope
- Experience in setting priorities and taking ownership of the team’s efficient execution of initiatives, ensuring timely and quality delivery of projects and tasks, including long-term, multi-quarter objectives
- Experience in hiring and growing engineering teams according to business needs
- Ability to operate independently and demonstrate leadership across multiple groups
- Experience in working with product managers and other leads on goals and strategies related to people, technology, and processes
