The Electrical Engineer will support decarbonization efforts by developing machine learning models, analyzing electrical systems, and conducting technical assessments related to power systems, renewable energy integration, and grid modernization to help organizations achieve their climate goals.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and operationalize machine learning and AI models for load, generation, and renewable energy forecasting.
Design, evaluate, and analyze electrical systems related to decarbonization, including electrification and grid integration.
Contribute to long-term transmission planning and renewable integration assessments.
Conduct technical due diligence on projects involving electrical infrastructure, energy storage, and industrial electrification.
Translate engineering analyses into clear, actionable recommendations for clients and internal teams.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support client deliverables and thought leadership.
Contribute to technical publications, reports, and external communications on electrification and grid decarbonization.
Stay current on developments in power systems modeling, climate technology, and industrial decarbonization.
Requirements
Master's or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related quantitative field
Expertise in the electric power industry, with exposure to wholesale electricity markets and or grid operations
Proficiency in AC and DC power flow models, experienced in working with production-cost models such as PROMOD, Plexos, AURORA
Proficiency in statistical modeling, forecasting, and data analysis using Python, R, MATLAB, or equivalent tools
Deep familiarity with energy market structures including ISOs, RTOs, capacity markets, resource adequacy frameworks, and reliability standards
Experience deploying machine learning models in production environments
Experience working across multidisciplinary teams with strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex analytics to non-technical stakeholders
Ability to develop and operationalize ML/AI models to support real-time and forward-looking load, generation, price forecasting, and renewable wind and solar generation forecasting
Ability to design, evaluate, and analyze electrical systems relevant to decarbonization pathways, including electrification, grid integration, power electronics, and low-carbon energy technologies
Ability to contribute to long-range transmission and integrated resource planning, including renewable integration assessments and production cost modeling
Ability to conduct rigorous technical due diligence on projects, technologies, and proposals involving electrical infrastructure, energy storage, or industrial electrification
Ability to translate complex engineering analyses into clear, actionable recommendations for clients, internal teams, and executive stakeholders
