Job Description
A senior-level specification writer specializing in architectural specifications for complex building projects across various sectors, responsible for developing project manuals, coordinating with project teams, mentoring staff, and ensuring technical accuracy and industry standards compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Write architectural specifications for complex projects across various building types.
- Produce Project Manuals and author architectural sections for inclusion.
- Manage multiple projects, deadlines, and milestones.
- Review and revise technical specifications and project drawings for coordination and completeness.
- Develop and improve master specifications, including sustainable and regional content.
- Mentor and educate less experienced specification writers and coordinators.
- Collaborate with project teams during construction administration, including shop drawing and product substitution reviews.
- Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and industry resources.
- Support firm-wide standards and participate in specifications development meetings.
Requirements
- Bachelor Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction or a relevant field required
- A minimum of 8 years of related experience required in the architecture, engineering, or construction industry which must include a minimum of five (5) or more years of specifications writing experience
- Current Architectural, Engineering license or CSI certification required
- Advanced knowledge in discipline and focused areas including project delivery methods
- Detailed understanding of Contracts and relationship to Division 00 01
- Knowledge of building codes and construction techniques is required
- Experience with Engineering Specifications is a plus
- Ability to perform Coordination QA QC across disciplines
- Familiarity with specification editing software is required; proficiency in e-SPECS for Revit is preferred
- Proficiency in MS Office, including Teams and OneNote, as well as BlueBeam Revu
- Familiarity with Autodesk Construction Cloud and MS Lists is preferred
