Job Description
This role involves writing and managing technical specifications for complex architectural projects across various building types, collaborating with project teams, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and supporting sustainable design initiatives within a dynamic architecture firm.
Key Responsibilities
- Write specifications for complex projects across various building types using specification editing software.
- Collaborate with project team members to produce and coordinate Project Manuals and technical specifications.
- Review and revise project drawings and specifications to ensure completeness, accuracy, and coordination.
- Develop and improve master specifications, including regional, sustainable, and project-specific content.
- Participate in progress meetings, assist during Construction Administration with shop drawing and product substitution reviews.
- Educate and mentor less experienced staff on specification content and best practices.
- Maintain knowledge of industry standards, building codes, and construction techniques.
- Develop relationships with vendors and support sustainability initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction or a relevant field required
- A minimum of 6 years of related experience in the architecture, engineering or construction industry
- A minimum of three (3) years of specifications writing experience
- Knowledge of building codes and construction techniques is required
- Understanding of Contracts and relationship to Division 00 01
- Advanced technical knowledge is essential
- Ability to perform Coordination QA QC across disciplines
- Must possess business acumen, be a critical thinker and highly analytical
- Must have excellent interpersonal, communication, teamwork, collaboration and conflict resolution skills
- Proficiency in MS Office, MS Teams, MS One Note, and BlueBeam Revu
- Familiarity with specification editing software is required
- Proficiency in e-SPECS for Revit is preferred
