Job Description

This role involves leading design and technical efforts for complex laboratory projects, providing expert guidance on planning, architecture, and sustainable design, while collaborating with clients and project teams to deliver innovative solutions in the biotech and research facility sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead high-level specialist role as a subject matter expert on S T projects, focusing on team and client leadership, mentoring, and improving work quality.
  • Collaborate with project teams to provide technical expertise in programming and planning for projects.
  • Lead user group meetings to gather and refine program needs and assess space utilization.
  • Communicate planning concepts effectively to project teams, clients, and owners through reports and visualizations.
  • Develop, modify, and review planning concepts and solutions.
  • Create architectural drawings and specifications to translate planning concepts into construction documentation.
  • Develop project scope, plan, and services during the contract process.
  • Incorporate sustainable design solutions into projects.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients and provide guidance to design team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Engineering or a related degree
  • Minimum of 10 years of related experience performing as a subject matter expert on projects
  • Previous experience working on large, complex, or multiple projects for the S T market
  • Experience in Vivarium, Biology, Chemistry, or Instrumentation lab spaces is preferred
  • Knowledge of building codes and requirements
  • Must have advanced knowledge in the discipline
  • Must possess business acumen
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to be client facing
  • Ability to lead less experienced team members
  • Familiarity with Revit, Microsoft Office, and Bluebeam software
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time to project sites, other offices, client meetings, and stakeholder engagements as required
