This position involves leading the design and oversight of plumbing, fire protection, and HVAC systems for large-scale buildings, providing technical guidance to team members, preparing construction drawings using Revit BIM, and collaborating with clients and project teams to ensure project success.
Key Responsibilities
Design and oversee complex plumbing, fire protection, and ductwork systems for large-scale buildings.
Prepare Revit BIM models of construction drawings from schematic design to construction administration.
Specify equipment such as water heaters, plumbing fixtures, and pumping equipment.
Review and approve shop drawings for compliance with specifications and contract documents.
Conduct site visits to verify conditions and observe construction progress.
Participate in or lead value engineering sessions to improve project efficiency and quality.
Mentor and provide technical leadership to design team members.
Interface with clients and project team members, including attending meetings and managing project budgets.
Respond to RFIs and review change orders during construction.
Assist with HVAC design as necessary and perform related modeling tasks.
Requirements
Bachelor or Master’s degree in Engineering required.
Bachelor or Master’s degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program preferred.
Minimum of 8 years of related experience required.
Current CPD, PE in Mechanical or FPE in the United States preferred.
LEED accreditation preferred.
Strong knowledge of Life Safety Codes.
Must be a fully qualified professional able to perform work with a high degree of latitude.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Able to effectively handle multiple projects.
Experience in computer applications for engineering design programs such as Revit, Trane Trace, or Trane 3D Plus required.
Perform and direct complex design of ductwork, piping, and equipment selection for plumbing and fire protection systems for large scale size buildings.
Able to work independently in all Mechanical disciplines with no oversight or guidance.
Interface effectively with clients and members of the design team.
Review and accept selective shop drawings for compliance of specifications and contract documents.
Conduct job site visits to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress, including physical walk-through of site.
Attend and participate in construction meetings.
Respond to RFIs and review change orders in the preparation of construction documents.
Participate or lead value engineering sessions with Architectural Engineering team.
Conduct staff development activities including work planning, budget development, and scheduling in conjunction with the Project Manager.
Represent company in project activities, business development, and marketing activities.
May serve on internal and/or professional committees.
Perform other duties as assigned.
