Job Description

A Technical Product Program Manager at Aurora will lead cross-functional projects related to autonomous driving technology, collaborating with engineering teams to plan, prioritize, and execute development efforts that enhance the safety, efficiency, and accessibility of self-driving systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with Behavior Planning and software teams to plan, prioritize, and develop algorithms for safe and comfortable trajectories.
  • Assess requirements, facilitate selection of optimal solutions, and coordinate team efforts to evolve tools and operational processes.
  • Track project progress, resolve dependencies, evaluate risks, and communicate status to management and stakeholders.
  • Manage large-scale, cross-functional projects, ensuring efficient workflows and project momentum.
  • Remove obstacles, identify communication or schedule gaps, escalate issues, and support teams in balancing priorities.
  • Understand technical designs and architectures, propose technical alternatives, and clarify technical priorities.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years experience as a Technical Program Manager, Product Manager, or Engineering Manager, or Engineer in an autonomous systems, robotics, data science, machine learning, computer vision, or software development environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Data Science, Information Systems or a related area, or the equivalent in experience with evidence of exceptional ability preferred.
  • A strong familiarity with machine learning models, robotics or computer vision systems and their architecture.
  • Experience with the design, development, and launch of groundbreaking products or delivery of significant and novel technology programs that have a direct, measurable impact.
  • High technical aptitude with the ability to understand technical designs, software development lifecycle, challenges and risks, and work closely with engineers.
  • Strong experience in project management with practical familiarity with both Agile and Waterfall methodologies and the ability to apply them where best suited.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to adjust communication based on audience.
  • Passion for shipping new-to-market products and the ability to dynamically adapt to new responsibilities needed to do so.
