Job Description
This role involves leading electrical engineering design and project management for building construction projects across various sectors, providing technical expertise, overseeing documentation, ensuring code compliance, and coordinating with clients and teams to deliver high-quality, sustainable solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform electrical engineering systems design for building construction projects.
- Develop project designs, set design goals, and oversee technical execution.
- Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to design team members.
- Lead or participate in project planning, meetings, and coordination efforts.
- Design electrical systems such as lighting, power distribution, signaling, communications, and telecommunication systems.
- Prepare construction documents, including drawings and specifications.
- Specify electrical equipment and review shop drawings and submittals.
- Conduct quality control checks and serve as an independent reviewer in QAQC processes.
- Manage project engineering responsibilities, including adherence to budgets and schedules.
- Conduct site visits to verify conditions, observe construction progress, and ensure compliance with codes.
Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years of related experience in electrical engineering.
- Current Professional Engineer (PE) license in Electrical Engineering in the United States.
- Advanced knowledge of electrical engineering principles and practices.
- Ability to serve in QAQC process and as an independent reviewer of engineering documents.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong ability to interface effectively with clients and members of the design team.
- Ability to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience with computer applications for engineering design programs such as Revit, AGI32, Visual, SKM Power Tools.
- Design experience including electrical systems such as lighting, power distribution, signaling, communications, and telecommunication systems for healthcare, education, higher education, and commercial clients, in compliance with applicable codes.
- Ability to prepare construction documents including drawings and specifications.
- Ability to specify electrical equipment.
- Experience in conducting job site visits to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress, including physical walk-throughs of sites.
- Knowledge and application of electrical and building codes in building systems design.
- Ability to assume project engineering responsibilities and adhere to financial and work goals.
- Experience in reviewing and markup of shop drawings and submittals, and responding to RFIs and review of change orders.
- Experience in project construction administration, including attending and participating in construction meetings.
- Possession of a valid PE license in the United States is mandatory.
