Job Description
This position involves electrical systems design and project management for building construction projects across various sectors, including healthcare, education, and commercial, requiring technical expertise, leadership, and client engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform electrical systems design for building construction projects.
- Develop project designs, goals, and systems in collaboration with the team.
- Lead or participate in project planning sessions and engineering meetings.
- Manage project engineering tasks, including adhering to budgets and work goals.
- Design electrical systems such as lighting, power distribution, signaling, and telecommunications for various clients.
- Prepare construction documents, including drawings and specifications.
- Guide less experienced team members in executing engineering drawings.
- Specify electrical equipment and complete quality control checks of engineering documents.
- Participate in value engineering sessions to improve design quality and efficiency.
- Review and markup shop drawings and submittals, respond to RFIs, and review change orders.
- Conduct site visits to verify conditions and observe construction progress.
- Attend and participate in construction meetings and site walk-throughs.
Requirements
- Minimum of 8 years of related experience in electrical engineering.
- Current Professional Engineer (PE) license in Electrical Engineering in the United States.
- Strong knowledge of Life Safety Codes.
- Ability to work independently in all electrical disciplines with no oversight or guidance.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be a critical thinker and highly analytical.
- Ability to engage effectively with clients.
- Fully qualified professional able to perform work with a high degree of latitude, with some ambiguity in work.
- Able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience in computer applications for engineering design programs such as Revit, AGI32, Visual, SKM Power Tools.
