Job Description
This position involves designing electrical systems for building projects across various sectors such as healthcare, education, and commercial, leading project teams, preparing construction documents, and overseeing construction activities under the guidance of senior engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform electrical engineering systems design for building construction.
- Develop project designs, goals, and systems in collaboration with the team.
- Lead or participate in project teamwork planning sessions and engineering meetings.
- Manage project engineering responsibilities, including adhering to financial and work goals.
- Design electrical systems such as lighting, power distribution, signaling, communications, and telecommunication systems for various clients.
- Prepare construction documents, including drawings and specifications.
- Guide less experienced team members in executing drawings and specifying electrical equipment.
- Conduct quality control checks of engineering documents.
- Participate in value engineering sessions to improve design quality and coordination.
- Review shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, and change orders related to construction documents.
- Conduct site visits to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress.
- Attend and participate in construction meetings.
Requirements
- Minimum of 8 years of related experience required.
- Current PE in Electrical Engineering in the United States required.
- Designing electrical engineering systems for building construction, including lighting, power distribution, signaling, communications, and telecommunication systems for healthcare, education, higher education, and commercial clients per applicable codes.
- Preparation of construction documents including drawings and specifications.
- Guiding less experienced team members in the execution of drawings.
- Specifying electrical equipment.
- Completing quality control checks of engineering documents.
- Participating or leading value engineering sessions with Architectural Engineering team.
- Reviewing and marking up shop drawings and submittals.
- Responding to RFIs and reviewing change orders in the preparation of construction documents.
- Conducting job site visits to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress, including physical walk-through of sites.
- Attending and participating in construction meetings.
- Ability to work independently in all electrical disciplines with no oversight or guidance.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be a critical thinker and highly analytical.
- Ability to engage effectively with clients.
- Experience in computer applications for engineering design programs such as Revit, AGI32, Visual, SKM Power Tools.
