Job Description
The Project Architect will lead the development, coordination, and technical aspects of architectural projects, ensuring design quality, team leadership, client communication, and compliance with standards while integrating sustainable strategies and fostering a collaborative work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of technical aspects and content of architectural projects
- Coordinate work across disciplines to ensure integrated project deliverables
- Verify project compliance through team collaboration
- Lead design, production, coordination, and detailing within a multi-disciplinary team
- Coordinate engineering systems with engineers and consultants
- Prepare design sketches of site plans
- Communicate project status, design intent, and updates to stakeholders
- Participate in business development activities
- Perform field site observations and visits
- Develop and maintain positive client relationships
- Integrate sustainable and performance-based design strategies into projects
- Implement project delivery methods and best practices to ensure quality and efficiency
- Supervise and mentor junior team members and interns
- Enforce quality assurance and quality control standards on projects
Requirements
- Minimum Bachelor degree in a relevant field required.
- Minimum 8 years of related professional experience required.
- Current Architectural Registration in the United States required.
- Knowledge of building codes and requirements.
- Must possess business acumen.
- Must be a critical thinker.
- Must be highly analytical.
- Must be a fully qualified professional able to perform work with a high degree of latitude, with some ambiguity in work.
- Must have the ability to be client facing with strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Revit, Enscape, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Creative Suite required.
- Ability to lead design, production, coordination, and architectural detailing as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Ability to lead and assist in coordination of engineering systems with engineers and consultants.
- Ability to prepare design sketches of moderate to complex site plans.
- Ability to communicate project status, design intent, construction updates, and other critical information clearly and compellingly to owners, consultants, and clients.
- Ability to participate in Business Development activities and partner with Marketing and Office Leadership as needed.
- Ability to perform field site observations, including frequent physical site walk-throughs.
- Ability to develop and maintain positive client relations throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ability to facilitate integration of performance-based and sustainable design strategies into design solutions.
- Ability to lead project teams by implementing CannonDesign Method using process expectations, best practices, reference standards, tools, templates, and technology.
- Ability to create a stimulating and rewarding environment that promotes design and technical excellence.
- Ability to empower staff and delegate effectively to build high-performance teams.
- Ability to provoke critical thinking and critique of work, and share lessons learned with teams.
- Supervise, monitor, train, and direct work of interns and less experienced team members.
- Monitor the technical quality of projects by enforcing QA QC process standards and statutory requirements.
