Job Description
The position involves providing senior-level expertise in designing and managing Department of Defense U.S. Navy facilities, ensuring compliance with military standards and codes, and supporting a variety of facility types including research, manufacturing, and ordnance handling, primarily in the Washington, DC area.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop facilities for U.S. Navy projects in accordance with DoD UFC, NAVSEA instructions, and building codes.
- Provide subject-matter expertise in the renovation and construction of Navy facilities, including research, test, manufacturing, fleet support, and demilitarization facilities.
- Ensure compliance with relevant design requirements and standards for facilities handling energetics and explosives ordnance.
Requirements
- Extensive knowledge of DoD Unified Facilities Criteria UFC, Naval Sea Systems Command NAVSEA Instructions, building codes, and other design requirements relevant to renovation and construction of U.S. Navy facilities.
- Experience designing a wide range of facilities, such as those for research and development, test and evaluation, manufacturing, fleet support, demilitarization, and disposal.
- Experience designing facilities for storing, manufacturing, or processing energetics and explosives ordnance is preferred.
- Must be located in or willing to relocate to the Washington, DC metropolitan area to attend frequent at least weekly on-site client and team meetings.
- Ability to perform and communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and perform design work independently or as part of a team.
- Full-time availability for employment without a set office location, with the requirement to attend frequent on-site meetings in the Washington, DC area.
