Job Description
This intermediate-level interior furniture designer collaborates with project teams to develop and coordinate furniture specifications, evaluate client needs, produce design presentations, and oversee project phases from programming to construction administration, within a multidisciplinary architecture and design firm.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of project goals through all phases, including Programming, Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documents, and Construction Administration.
- Evaluate client needs, analyze design objectives, and document spatial requirements.
- Research, evaluate, and coordinate furniture throughout all phases of interior design work.
- Coordinate design work, standards, and code compliance within the team and with other disciplines.
- Develop furniture specification packages in coordination with interior designers, including material evaluation and vendor consultation.
- Produce presentations, cost estimates, and furniture specification packages within project constraints.
- Assist in project planning, budgeting, and follow-through of work plans.
- Participate in and lead client meetings as needed.
- Mentor and supervise less experienced furniture design staff.
- Participate in construction administration activities, including site visits, review of submittals and shop drawings, and conducting punch lists.
Requirements
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or relevant field required.
- Minimum of 6 years of related experience required.
- Current NCIDQ certification is preferred.
- Must be an independent thinker.
- Must be analytical.
- Must possess a working knowledge and experience, while still acquiring higher level knowledge.
- Strong creative design portfolio is essential.
- Proficiency with Revit, Enscape, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Creative Suite required.
- Travel as required.
