Job Description

The Convergence Director is responsible for leading market growth, brand elevation, and strategic initiatives across assigned regions and markets, fostering collaboration, expanding business opportunities, and promoting the firm's Living-Centered Design ethos to drive impact and revenue growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute regional, national, or international growth plans aligned with the firm's strategic framework.
  • Lead efforts to grow brand awareness and secure new business opportunities within assigned markets.
  • Collaborate with firm leaders to create and support market-specific business strategies and entrepreneurial initiatives.
  • Source new project opportunities, partnerships, and client relationships to drive revenue growth.
  • Support the development of new markets, practices, and business lines, including research and innovation initiatives.
  • Partner with marketing teams to enhance the firm’s brand presence and develop content that promotes firm initiatives.
  • Represent the firm externally at industry events, conferences, and thought leadership venues to elevate brand visibility.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to market, practice, and regional teams to achieve growth and impact goals.
  • Build and maintain a strong professional network to connect the firm with industry leaders, clients, and strategic partners.
  • Contribute to building a positive, collaborative, and inclusive firm culture aligned with firm values and strategic goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree is required for this role. Advanced degrees are preferred.
  • Generally, at least 20 years of work experience within the assigned markets or equivalent work experience is required.
  • Significant experience and proven track record within the markets assigned to this role, as demonstrated by progressive leadership responsibilities and employment experience at well-known and highly respected organizations or companies within the respective markets.
  • Visibility and positive reputation within industry networks of value to the firm and the markets we serve.
  • Track record of consistent presence, visibility, and championing a unique and thoughtful point-of-view at thought leadership and industry events.
  • Identifiable and recognizable personal brand and/or professional reputation consistent with CannonDesign's ambitions and values.
  • Significant travel is required.
  • Ability to develop and execute regional, national, or international growth plans which align with the firm's strategic framework, with a minimum of 10% year-over-year growth in assigned core markets and submarkets.
  • Ability to lead and support growth initiatives including organic growth, brand building, launching new office locations, services, or business lines, and building new capabilities and market lines.
  • Ability to support the growth of the firm’s brands, services, and capabilities through strategic partnerships, sourcing new relationships, and opening doors to new clients and leads.
  • Ability to develop and assess business strategies that advance market growth and impact, including defining and executing strategic convergence market growth plans aligned with the firm's strategic framework.
  • Experience in defining and executing a strategic convergence market growth plan, aligned with the Strategic Framework and the Chief Strategy Officer.
  • Experience in engaging with and contributing to market-specific regional business plans that identify key business strategies and entrepreneurial initiatives.
  • Proven ability to identify growth market opportunities, key target clients, and yearly Net Signed Fee targets to increase business volume of markets by a minimum of 10% annually.
  • Ability to support research and development, and encourage development of new ideas, services, and products to differentiate the firm and expand business potential.
  • Experience in building strong leadership teams capable of expanding growth potential for markets.
  • Ability to evaluate and address senior talent needs in the markets within your areas of convergence.
  • Ability to contribute visibly and impactfully to building strong leadership teams and expanding growth potential.
  • Experience in supporting research and development and bringing forward ideas for new markets, practices, and business lines for investment and development.
  • Ability to partner closely with the BMBD leadership team to define opportunities, develop content, and drive the firm’s image, brand, reputation, and market footprint.
  • Ability to develop and maintain a sizable external network that leads to opportunities for the firm and elevates the brand.
  • Excellent external influence and impact, with the ability to represent the firm at national and international events, conferences, and workshops, with a goal of participating in 3-5 venues annually.
  • Strong communication skills to write, speak, and communicate externally, including identifying strategic placement speaking opportunities.
  • Ability to dedicate approximately 35% of time to leadership, guidance, and support activities that advance the firm’s brand and develop new business opportunities.
  • Ability to dedicate approximately 65% of time to influence, strategy development, practice and market building, recruiting, and related activities that lead to growth and impact of markets and the firm overall.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability to inspire and lead internally and externally, influence industry networks, and make impactful connections.
  • Ability to champion Living-Centered Design and demonstrate ownership, accountability, fairness, entrepreneurial behavior, sound judgment, and inclusive leadership.
  • Ability to communicate effectively internally and externally, energize and motivate teams, and develop high-performing, accountable teams across all markets, offices, services, and practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to connect the firm to talent, industry leaders, regional stakeholders, and strategic partners through an extensive national network.
