Job Description
This role is a leadership position in design, focusing on the commercial market, responsible for guiding design projects, developing client relationships, mentoring staff, and promoting innovation and excellence within a global architecture and design firm.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in the leadership and strategic evolution of the Commercial market and firm-wide design culture.
- Lead design projects by communicating and representing design goals to clients and teams, especially during early phases.
- Collaborate with teams throughout all project phases to ensure high-quality design outcomes.
- Create and present innovative design concepts that align with client culture, goals, and societal needs.
- Develop compelling client presentation materials and lead design storytelling to convey design value.
- Integrate sustainable and performance-based strategies into design solutions.
- Mentor and develop emerging professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
- Recruit, retain, and build high-performance design teams.
- Lead business development efforts by cultivating client relationships and identifying new opportunities.
- Participate in client and project pursuit strategies from initial targeting through proposal and interviews.
Requirements
- Bachelor or Master degree in Architecture required.
- Bachelor or Master degree in Architecture from an accredited program preferred.
- 15 years minimum experience in a design leadership role, of which a minimum of 3 years are leading others in a design studio or design practice segment required.
- Current US Architectural Registration preferred.
- Additional accreditation and or training relevant to this role is preferred, including LEED.
- Design portfolio of significant built and unbuilt work.
- Third party recognition of your work as a lead or supporting design role by local, regional, or national design awards programs and recognized design publications or digital platforms is preferred.
- Strong oral presentation and storytelling skills required.
- Must be able to understand and execute business strategy.
- Must have professional acumen and maturity demonstrated by the ability to communicate authentically and respectfully.
- Travel required.
